August: Glenn earns his Azure Administrator Associate certification.

February: ISI is hired by DLA Piper in a patent case involving an e-commerce website and product viewing technology.

January: Glenn's three Pluralsight courses (Mobile Devices, Operating Systems, and Computer Security) on the newly-revised A+ technical certification debut as part of a 21-hour, 10-course series.

NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN 2018

November: ISI is hired to represent a patent owner in an IPR re-examination involving social news gathering, prioritizing, tagging, searching, and syndication.

September: Glenn delivers two weeks of intensive Windows 10 training for Stanford Health.

August: Glenn is deposed in Google v. Spring Ventures.

June: Glenn's two Pluralsight series on Windows 10 re-release in updated versions, reflecting the Windows 10 Fall Creators update. Glenn writes an expert declaration in Spring Ventures v. Google.

February: ISI is hired to provide expert witness services in the patent case of Avocent v. ZTE. Also, Glenn's testimony in the Lundgren case is noted in the Washington Post (Feb. 15 article by Tom Jackman).

January: ISI is hired to consult on its second criminal case, this one involving Internet technologies. Details to follow when permitted.

November: Glenn's Pluralsight course on "Writing Better Technical Reports" debuts.

September: ISI is retained by Meister Seelig & Fein to represent a patent owner in an IPR patent re-examination involving Web-based search technologies.

August: The fourth and last course in Glenn's second Pluralsight series is complete.

June: The third course in Glenn's second Pluralsight series makes its debut.

May: Glenn testifies in US District Court, Southern District of Florida, at the sentencing hearing in the case of US v. Lundgren. Another online course debuts.

April: ISI begins its second series of online classes for Pluralsight. ISI is also hired to write test questions for a Microsoft Official Curriculum class on Windows 10.

March: ISI's class on "Windows Server 2016 Security Hardening" goes live on Pluralsight. Glenn also begins teaching the Microsoft official class on "Implementing and Managing Windows 10" for Global Knowledge.

February: Glenn teaches the advanced, 5-day course "Upgrading Your Skills to Server 2016 MCSA" for the first time.

NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN 2016

December: ISI's class on "Windows Server 2016 Connectivity and Remote Access" is published by Pluralsight.

November: Independent Software is hired by IT Asset Partners to represent the defendant in a criminal software counterfeiting case. Glenn also scripts and records another 2-day Microsoft Official Curriculum video course, this time on Identity and Windows Server 2016, and teaches the advanced 5-day course on the same subject for the first time.

October: Glenn's seventh Pluralsight course is published.

August: Glenn scripts and records a 2-day Microsoft Official Curriculum video course on System Center Configuration Manager, enterprise-class software for managing Microsoft networks. Pluralsight course #6 goes live.

July: Glenn's fifth Pluralsight course is available to the public.

June: June marks the first time Glenn teaches the advanced 5-day course on "Supporting and Troubleshooting Windows 10" as well as the debut of Pluralsight course #4 on Windows 10. Glenn also testifies in Real Living Real Estate vs. SCS Realty Investment Group.

April: ISI's third Pluralsight online course goes live.

March: Independent Software is hired by Global Knowledge Network to write test questions for two Microsoft Official Curriculum classes.

February: Glenn receives his Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate certification in Windows 10.

NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN 2015

December: Glenn joins the first wave of IT professionals to receive a Microsoft "specialist" certification in Windows 10. ISI adds insurance giant AIG to the list of companies it has trained in Windows Server 2012.

November: The ISI/Pluralsight collaboration bears fruit as ISI's first online course becomes available. ISI enters into an agreement with Wilkins Solutions of Ontario to produce 8 more courses in the series.

October: Glenn adds Microsoft's System Center Configuration Manager 2012 to his repertoire, presenting the 5-day advanced seminar in Dallas.

September: Independent Software contracts to develop online courseware for Pluralsight, the premier provider of online courseware in the software development and IT administration fields.

August: Thomson Reuters spotlights Glenn on its expert witness blog, in an article on writing expert reports (available here).

July: Independent Software Inc. enters into a business relationship with Cupertino-based LitXPert Group, Inc.

June: Glenn teaches the advanced, 5-day Server 2012 course "Designing and Implementing a Server Infrastructure" for the first time. Also, Independent Software Inc. enters into a strategic alliance with Portland-based IPstrom, LLC.

May: A settlement is reached in Freedom Scientific v. Apple.

April: Independent Software is hired by Arent Fox to provide expert witness services in a patent involving the migration of computer user settings.

March: Glenn has been accepted into the National Expert Witness Network (NEWN).

February: Glenn has been accepted into the expert-witness networks of both Gerson Lerhman Group, Inc. and ForensisGroup, Inc. Also, Glenn begins teaching advanced Windows Server 2012 courses in the MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert) track.

January/February: Independent Software helps plan and configure a network "hot site" for disaster recovery to keep a Texas-based placement firm up and running if the primary office is down. Technologies include Distributed File System Replication (DFS-R) and Group Policy.

December: Independent Software is hired to work on a patent case involving accessibility software for vision-impaired users.

October/November: Glenn earns multiple certifications in Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8.1, and begins teaching new courses for Global Knowledge.

August/September: Independent Software cosponsors a benefit concert for Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) research. The Denver event, featuring Colorado artists and presented in association with the Joy to the World Foundation, raises approximately $40K for researcher Dr. Stephen Davies (click here for more information on Dr. Davies' work).

June: After expert reports and depositions, settlements are reached in Optimize v. Staples et al.

April: After expert reports and depositions, settlements are reached in Symantec v. Acronis.

March: The Western District of North Carolina finds in favor of Zillow in the case of LendingTree v. Zillow et al.

February: Glenn testifies in District Court in the case of LendingTree v. Zillow et al.

October: Independent Software is hired by Sprinkle IP Group in Austin, Texas to work on a patent case involving Web-based e-commerce (Optimize v. Staples et al).

August: Glenn is working with DLA Piper on the Surfcast v. Microsoft patent case, involving Windows 8 and Windows 8 Phone.

July: Glenn signed on with Fish & Richardson to work as consultant and testifying expert in Symantec v. Acronis, a multiple-patent action involving computer backup technologies.

June: Independent Software Inc. has moved! The new location is 9850 W. Vassar Way, Lakewood, CO 80227-2885. The phone number remains the same.

May: Glenn signed with Fenwick & West, LLP to provide expert services on a patent case involving Web-based financial services.

April: The Eastern District of Virginia found in favor of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in the case of Disney v. Kappos, giving more weight to Glenn's testimony than to that of Disney's expert.

March: Independent Software Inc. added a new consulting client, The InSource Group, an IT recruiting firm based in Dallas. Glenn will provide networking hardware and software support on an as-needed basis.

February: Glenn testified as an expert for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in the Eastern District of Virginia in Alexandria. Glenn appeared before Judge Leonie M. Brinkema (who presided over the case of 9/11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui) in the case of Disney v. Kappos, a patent action involving the use of browser cookies in secure e-commerce transactions over the Web. Sidley Austin LLP represented Disney.

February: Glenn added Windows 8 to the list of products he teaches for Global Knowledge, with the 5-day intensive Microsoft Official Curriculum course 20687B, "Configuring Windows 8," which Glenn delivered over the Web.

January: The year began on a positive note with the first contract between Independent Software and Thomson Reuters Expert Witness Services, involving a network printing patent. Glenn will be working with Morrison & Foerster's New York office on the project.
