Upgrades: Component-to-Component Cables ("Interconnects") & Speaker Cables

A cable is a cable, right? Wrong — very audible differences exist between regular "zip" cord and cables designed for audio. (Here's another myth: Monster-brand cable is always the best.)

Audio systems use two kinds of signal cables: interconnects, such as the cable from your CD player to your preamp, and speaker cables. Upgrading these can often improve your system, and without electronic surgery. You may also be able to realize sonic benefits from biwiring your speakers, if they're built for it. That means separate wire runs to woofer and tweeter circuits.

Genesee Sound doesn't build or resell cables, but consults to recommend types, brands, and sizes for your situation — and help you get the best price possible.
