Courtroom

"As an expert witness, I work to make the best possible case while always operating within the boundaries of accuracy and credibility.

"An expert has a responsibility to educate the client about the technical issues in the case. In court, the expert must also educate the judge and jury. Being an expert witness is therefore as much about teaching as it is about knowing.

"I prefer to write my own expert reports. If I am going to sign a report, I feel it should be my work. I organize my material logically and express my thoughts clearly. When rebutting other reports, part of my job is to keep the other side honest, so I watch for any statements that are misleading, ambiguous, illogical, or inaccurate.

"I try to be as self-sufficient as possible, from booking travel to drafting my own demonstratives. My clients are busy and appreciate experts who are low maintenance.

"In depositions and in court, I strive to be deliberate, precise, confident, and cool under pressure."
